Artist overview
My work is inspired by water, movement and the feeling of being completely present in a place. I love the way water catches light, shifts colour, reflects people and holds energy without ever staying still. That sense of movement is something I try to carry into each painting.
Many of my paintings begin from photographs, but I do not see them as exact copies. I use them as a way back into a moment - the warmth in the air, the movement of the water, the excitement of being somewhere new, and the feeling of a memory becoming brighter over time. Growing up with the chance to travel, especially through Europe, has shaped the way I see colour, light and place. Those experiences feel incredibly special to me, and painting is my way of holding onto them.
Through each work, I try to translate the feeling behind the image rather than only the image itself. A photograph might capture what was there, but painting lets me bring out what it felt like - the joy, energy, warmth and connection of the moment.
Bright colour is central to the way I paint. Rich blues, warm yellows and sunlit tones appear throughout my work because they remind me of water, travel, joy and connection. I want each painting to feel alive - like a moment that has been remembered, softened and made more beautiful over time.
